Mean Girls Election 2008

Mean Girls: Michelle Obama, Hillary Clinton, Nancy Pelosi.
Actually, these lady Democrat V.I.Ps have been rather civil and respectful towards the new girl on the block, Sarah Palin. They have not joined in on the many personal attacks from the likes of “I can see Russia from my house” Tina Fey, “F*** you” Jon Stewart, and those who suggest that a mother of five cannot be an effective Vice President.
Instead, these women have remained largely positive towards the candidacy of Sarah Palin, in a possible attempt to avoid alienating women voters from the Democrat Party. Hillary has not assumed the role of attack-dog, but praised Sarah’s convention speech and “very composed and effective” debate performance. Nancy has stayed rather quiet, not criticizing Sarah for more than a general lack of experience while instead angling any attacks towards her senior running mate John McCain and the Republican ticket’s “poor choice” of “policy and the direction our country should go in.” Michelle, even at the repeated goading of Larry King, did not offer a much harsher criticism of Sarah than possibly implying that she was unsubstantial by remarking, “she’s cute.”
It is commendable that Nancy, Hillary, and Michelle have not joined in the gossip mongering fray that has seriously maligned Sarah’s Vice Presidential campaign. Perhaps they do not want to alienate voters, or perhaps they are letting the media, or even Sarah herself, derail her campaign for them. Perhaps it is simply that Sarah has proven herself as a formidable Plastic, and they recognize the need to step aside and make way for the new Queen Bee.
